Abstract

From a generation that is fascinated but which is also shaping itself one thing leading to another in the era of artificial intelligence and digital technology, Africa has an interest in putting new technologies at the center of its sustainable development. Several sectors such as agriculture, public and private services, security and the banking sector are already impacted. Riding this wave of digital transition can be a pivotal period for its development, since these technologies essentially make it possible to free ourselves from certain repetitive, time-consuming, and even tedious tasks to tackle activities requiring more human attention. In this article, we we are looking at the use cases of digital technology and artificial intelligence for the banking department, while drawing inspiration from certain POCs (proof of concepts) which work outside the old continent, and which could be adapted and set up strategically. The case of Cameroon, considered the economic heart of Central Africa, is drawn to boost this momentum. It should be noted that what would work in Cameroon among the examples cited could methodically be similar to other African countries in this banking sphere. Despite the race towards robotization underway, this article also attempts to be part of a side which advocates the adoption of AI and Digital strategies for all key sectors of development on the continent to strategically seize all the opportunities linked to this “4th revolution”. For a continent which is looking towards a demographic of around 2.5 billion in 2024 with all the challenges that would follow, combining artificial intelligence with mass consumption, for example, as well as with professions in the business world, whether to support sales, marketing, customer service and HR teams, it is certain that convincing results will result.
